Today, a plane lands somewhere in the world every 3 seconds, but the airplanes used through history are not always what you imagine them to be. The Scaled Composites Model 281 Proteus designed by Burt Rutan, a currently retired aerospace engineer, and was flown for the first time in 1998. It is an astonishing tandem-wing High-Altitude Long Endurance aircraft which was built to investigate the use of aircraft as high altitude telecommunications relays. This multi-mission vehicle can orbit a point at over 60,000 ft for more than 18 hours.

The Airbus Beluga is a transporter aircraft used primarily to help them transport various components of an aircraft during the design process. It was initially named the Super Transporter but because of it’s whale like appearance, the Beluga name caught on. There’s only 5 of these built and they’ve been in operation ever since 1994 and they’re expected to be replaced by 2020.

Back when NASA was trying to send man to the moon on the Apollo space mission, there was no plane that was no cargo plane that was large enough to accommodate them. As a result, the Boeing 377PG was developed as a variation to the Boeing 377. The PG in the name stands for “Pregnant Guppy.” The name isn’t too surprising when you consider what the plane looks like.

This strange looking aircraft is a retired strategic bomber developed by the British Handley Page Aircraft Company. It was produced last and third in a series of V-bomber aircraft’s including the Avro Vulcan and Vickers Valiant. The Victor had also been equipped with radars, cameras and other sensors to allow it to serve better in the role of gathering intelligence.

The Bartini was a Soviet Union vertical take-off, amphibious aircraft developed during the 1970s. Its main purpose was a design that would enable it to take off from water and fly long distances at very high speed. Apart from flying at high altitude, this aircraft aimed to use the aerodynamic ground effect to have the capability of flying just above the sea surface. The project was developed by the Italian designer Robert Bartini and was slowly abandoned after his death.

This now retired American experimental subscale prototype jet made its first flight back in 1997. The McDonell Douglas (later Boeing) tailless plane was controlled by a pilot in a virtual and ground-based cockpit and its design did not feature the traditional tail assembly like most other airplanes.

This America aircraft known as ‘the flying pancake’ resembles more a UFO than a plane. It was built as part of an experimental project Vought XF5U “Flying Flapjack” by the United States Navy during World War II. Unfortunately, the “all-wing” design consisting of flat, somewhat disk-shaped bodies which served as the lifting surface was abandoned by airplane manufactures, but adopted by sci-fi movie directors.

If there were some people left on the planet unaware of the horrible political climate in North Korea, it all changed once the news of the 22-year old American student who died after being detained by Kim Jong-Un for stealing a propaganda poster from his hotel room circled the globe. It left many people wanting to take a peak into this country’s reality, but sadly, apart from the staged theatrical show they put on for tourists when they visit Pyongyang not much digital material has surfaced of the most isolated country in the world.

Michael recalls playing with fire when deciding to snap this photo of North Korea’s countryside showing villagers next to their bikes waiting for the train to pass. In spite of photography being encouraged in controlled conditions, it is absolutely prohibited to take photos of uniformed officers such as the one of the picture.

Why this photo most of us would find staged and ridiculous is because these street cleaners seem to be sweeping paths in of the biggest parks in Pyongyang which are perfectly clean. There’s also that soldier in the photograph who tourists are not allowed to take photos of.

Yup, that’s exactly what you think it is. This man just had to use the bathroom and as there weren’t any around, he simply got off his bike and urinated on the concrete sidewalk. We still aren’t sure how this picture managed to make it past their government officials as they are determined to show nothing else but the ‘grandeur’ of their country. Another interesting fact that was recently reported by Bored Panda is that North Koreans aren’t even allowed to travel within their own country unless they posses a special permit.

This interesting photo took a great deal of risk as it is reserved for locals only. Michael recalls having about 5 seconds in there before he was kicked out by his guide. Unfortunately he was not seen taking the photo. The half-empty grocery store shows the consequences locals are suffering due to this corrupt country’s terrible international policies.

Yet another photo depicting North Korea’s terrible countryside and infrastructure. Did you know that its citizens are only allowed to travel long distances by trains and buses due to the low maintenance of the roads? And for this, of course, they must first get a permit.

The city of Pyongyang is a complete contrast to rural North Korea. Michael and the rest of the groups saw a number of vehicles and nicely dressed people. However, they could not talk to any of them as their guides appointed by the country’s Ministry of Tourism closely followed their every move. Apart from that, they were told when to go to bed and when to wake up too.

This photo shows Kim Jong-Un hugging two schoolchildren dressed in uniforms and surprisingly appear proud and maybe even happy to be in their ‘supreme leader’s embrace’. Telegraph reported that the children are part of a performance celebrating the 70th founding anniversary of the Korean Children’s Union. It’s name? – “We are the Happiest in the world” (yup!). Need we say more?

This is Kim’s reaction while he is watching a long range rocket launch from an undisclosed location. North Korea tried to tell its people that the rocket launch contained a satellite, but the U.S was quick to debunk this claim and denounced the launch as a missile test. Kim continues to defy the U.N’s sanctions and its nation’s needs by launching everything from missiles to nuclear bombs while North Koreans are starving and dying in poverty.

Losing weight is no easy feat. It takes a huge amount of self discipline and dedication in order to meet weight loss goal. That being said, losing weight while the whole world watching you adds a whole other layer of difficulty to the equation. 50 Cent was always well known for his buff and muscular physique. However, he shocked us all when he dropped an alarming amount of weight.
